Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

The first day of school came and went here... after 13 years of first day(ers)... the kids know that they have to pose and say "cheese".... It's bittersweet to know that I will never take my daughters 1st day of school picture again... College to me isn't school.. but the pathway to adulthood... It just won't be the same. I think for the next 8 or so months you might here me "weep" about .. "the last this.. and the last that"... Life seemed calmer when we sat and watched the Little Mermaid 4 times in a row.. or when Little Bear would sing "Blow the man down.. Blow the man down..."... sighhh...

These pictures were taken at different times.. so one looks brighter than the other.. cause of the sun... sophomore-Senior get to go into school late....

And this is my son.. doesn't he look like he's up to something.. every picture looked like that.. crazy kid!! He's the big "man" on campus.. he's an 8th grader this year...

Before school started a few ladies and I decided we would have a scrapbooking night.. we are trying to do it once a month to give us some away time... and time where we didn't spend $$ ( you know me..the less $$ I spend the better I feel.. tee hee..).. so I decided to use up some of those yummy blueberry's that I picked... I made a blueberry coffee cake. I got the recipe from AllRecipes.com.. so click on the link and it will bring you right to the recipe I used... I read all the reviews and alter to what some say.. I did use 2 eggs instead of one.. but I kept all the topping as you can see... Ü I love me some topping!. So after I made this.. I decided I wasn't hungry for it.. so I took one bite.. it was super moist and really good... but just wasn't into eating a huge slice.. So my gracious friend took home over half.. and the other half.. disappeared immediately.. so I'm guessing it was a HIT!! I could see this being frozen and good for morning breakfasts too!!

Oh those are some pretty awesome kids you got there. And that blueberry cake is making my tummy seriously growl. No breakfast this morning I have to share the bathroom with a 6th grader that is obsessed with every hair being in place. lol

Your daughter is beautiful and your son quite handsome, you must be so proud. :)
Hard to see them grow up so fast. We also loved Little Bear in our house.

Good luck with the school year.

Thanks for commenting on my blog and giving me the chance to stop by at yours. Love it! The recipe for the blueberry coffee cake sounds great! And, I sympathize that your daughter is headed to college next year.... even though my kiddos are younger, I can well imagine what that next season may be like. It's funny that as parents, our job is to "give them wings so they can fly".... but as mommas that is easier said than done! Have a super weekend!!!

My mom always took my picture on the first day of school in front of our front door. When I went off to college, I always found a friend or timer and took one of myself to send to her. She just might surprise you.

Love that you still do first day of school pictures. My mom always did that too. :-) It's always fun to look back at those photos.

Going off to college is a big deal. I get you'll miss her a ton next year. I remember I was a Senior when my older sister went off to college I was sad the entire year -then I joined her. :)
