Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

I Did something that I have never done before... I went Blueberry Picking!! I always thought picking blueberries would be boring and take FOREVER.......... so I always decided against it.. well.. I'm glad I didn't this year. I packed up the kids and jumped into the car and headed over to VT to pick blueberries where we normally pick apples. This was the last little mini trip I got to take with my Fresh Air Son..

He Did NOT want to go home.. but that's always him at the end of his visit..He loves to be able to just open the door and walk outside.. and sit.. where it's peaceful and quiet.. He doesn't get that at home.

Here's the group picking for me.. I'm not sure how many pounds we ended up with.. but I know probably a pound was eaten just on the ride home!

These were so big and sweet! and most of them just fell right off!! YUM!

We filled 6 of these.. and I froze about 3lbs worth.. the rest.. I made into blueberry pie filling! I made 6 jars.. and used two already to make a pie... The rest I hope to use during thanksgiving or Christmas...while the frozen blueberries will probably find their way into muffins, pancakes, coffecakes, and waffles!!

I took this picture upside down so you could see the color and berries inside!! mmm...

I haven't shared for a few weeks.. but here are a couple books I read this week...

I love blueberries! I would love to pick them sometime. They look great!

BTW, our FAK is the SAME way, he loves to just open the door and walk outside. He would often grab some orange juice in the morning, and walk outside and sit in our front yard and drink it. He did it...just because he can. I always feel bad when they have to leave also.
Great idea to take him blueberry picking.

My heart goes out to your Fresh Air Son. It must be difficult having to go back, but at the same time at least he gets the opportunity to see what life COULD be like and give him a goal to strive for. May God bless you and your family for opening up your heart and your home for this child.

Great pictures too BTW. :)

Those blueberries look delicious. I am so craving a blueberry pie right now. Not sure we have any blueberry farms here - but I so wish we did as blueberries are one of those items that are just so expensive at the market yet are not so great once frozen, etc.

It's not quite blueberry picking time here, but I wish ours were like your bushes. The place that we go to is big ole trees and your neck kills you afterward since you are looking up for so long.

When I lived in western Mass we always had bears coming through our yard on their way to the blueberry farm on top of the hill.

We could never go up and pick blueberries, though, because the owners had shotguns-- and they weren't afraid to use them!

Your filling looks great!

We went three times this year to pick up blueberries. Here in Michigan they are sooo good! The last time we barely brought any home, the girls pretty much ate them all while picking them. Of course they paid for it later with trips to the bathroom :)

I am so glad that you went picking!! We just went picking this year and we loved it, except we were racing a thunderstorm..hehe..but other then that, we loved it!! And the people who owned the fields had their dogs walking through the fields..I thought that was funny, it was like he was making sure no one ate any while they picked...LOL

Blessings,
Ronnie

Blueberries!!! Yum!!! Blueberry Pie is one of our favorites, but in our part of the country they don't have a very long growing season, and the conditions have to be just right.
