Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

I can't believe it.. We are the 50th state.. the FINAL state....The "Live Free or Die" state....

To pass a mandatory seatbelt law... I mean seriously.. why did it take so long?

CONCORD, N.H.—The New Hampshire House has voted in favor of a bill to make the Granite State the last U.S. jurisdiction to require all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts.

Under current law, only minors have to buckle up. The bill calls for a primary law, meaning police can pull over motorists solely for not wearing seat belts. Twenty-five states have primary laws, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

New Hampshire would receive $3.7 million in federal grants if it passes a primary law. The bill applies to all vehicles except large school buses, cars made before 1968 and vehicles making frequent stops for business purposes. Violators would face a $50 fine for the first offense and a $100 fine for each additional offense.

Can you believe people want to change our "motto" because they feel that wearing our sit belts takes away our "rights".. pffff.. I'm more ticked off that I can't burn wood in my own yard in a confined stove.. seat belts are a habit for me... but roasting marshmallow's over coal is stinky compared to burning wood... now that is a CRIME!!

woo hoo! I make everyone wear their seat belts in my car anyway so this wont change much for me. I do know people who are mad because its just another freedom being taken away. LOL! People just like something to complain about! What is up with the wood and coal thing? I haven't heard about that one.

I did not even KNOW there were States that did not require it. I am so use to I had no idea. I will so however that I do not understand this SCHOOL BUS thing. Why don't school buses have some sort of seat belts or something. That bugs me and I wait daily in a car line for an hour so MY CHILD does not get on a bus. I am a Freak but yeah that bugs me. I will not even let him go on field trips without us or I pull him from school that day...I know I know I need to give it up to GOD but they are my babies!

i agree with Tam about the school bus thing. makes no sense at all.

I didn't realize either that any state didn't require seat belts. We have had the law for a long time.

How are you supposed to make s'mores if you can't build a fire in your backyard?

Taking away their rights? Seriously?

I too didn't realize that there were still states that haven't passed that into law. It is a habit for me for a long time to put my seat belt on EVERY time I get in the car. And all it took was one major accident. :P

it's about time is what I say. I totally understand about the school buses being exempt. The reason being that if the bus was involved in an accident and the kids were buckled in, a lot of them would not be able to get out of the vehicle without assistance.

It's about time, isn't it? That's crazy!

Anybody that rides in my car MUST wear a seat belt. ALWAYS!

I've always been disgusted that ANY state had a seat belt law. Shouldn't that be common sense? But if it gets you federal money, you've gotta do it. I've always enjoyed driving over the border and pretending I was going to unbuckle as I entered NH!

Wood and coal? Not familiar with that one.
