Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

Ok.. well remember the wedding I told you about... I had to make a pit stop because I saw a COVERED BRIDGE... I LOVE COVERED BRIDGES.. there is something about them... just looking at them you can envision the people that have walked through them in the past.. or the men that painstakingly built them... or the work horses that held their heads high while walking through them... Each Covered Bridge here in NH is numbered and probably is around the country... We have SEVERAL here.. even the longest Covered Bridge in the Northern Hemisphere...That connects NH with Vermont ( I will share a picture of that soon).

Because I'm a history buff.. I turned my pictures to black and white to give a "historical" feeling while looking at them... plus I've been playing with the photo download from Wal*Mart. Ü

Here is Bridge # 18 It is named the McDemott Bridge, but is also known as the Cold River Bridge and is located in Langdon New Hampshire. It was built in 1869 for $450. The bridge is 81'0" long with a clear span of 76'0". It has an overall width of 16'6" with a roadway width of 12'1" and a maximum vertical clearance of 11'1". It is braced by cables attached to the new highway bridge which bypassed it in 1964. It is now used for foot traffic only.

Previously there were three bridges that stood here before this one in 1790,1814,and 1840.

Unfortunately in my bridge picture there is a HUGE HUGE bar of steel in there which deeply disappoints me because you can't walk through it and it takes away from that Historic feeling...

I have also added a few more random pictures just cause.. Ü

Lovely pics! There are no covered bridges around here anywhere that I know of. They are so romantic though.

Your pictures are so beautiful. I can't believe that they put something like that into the bridge. You would think they could make it a little more esthetically pleasing! Are you trying to take pics of all the covered bridges in NH?? There is a really pretty one in Dover.
