Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

On the norm my blog is pretty laid back, fun, and quirky... however today I would like to share a PSA with you.

My little background.. I have been friends with a certain someone for close to 11 years, or at least I thought I was.
This weekend I get an e-mail something like this...

"We had a GREAT time at *A*'s bridal shower ( this is her daughter). All her loving friends and family were there" The e-mail goes on listing every one's name and how wonderful the shower was and how they have so much food left over that she is going to picnic with her wonderful family and friends.

To me... if someone was NOT invited to something like this.. you don't send an e-mail out to them. I can understand if you are sending to family who couldn't make it.. but I found this quite rude and felt that I wasn't "good enough" to go even though I have watched this girl grow up for the past 11 or so years. Today I got pictures of the shower. I'll be honest.. I didn't even open them but deleted them.

You can't change people.. right? I won't even try.

My weekend was a GOOD one.. I got a bit accomplished.. Garden in... yard spiffied up... and I went to two yardsales... and I found some treasures!! I love OLD"er" dishes. I'll be honest. I don't really have a place for many more.. or even for the ones I bought.. but there is something about dishes that SCREAM comfort to me! So I had to get these little REALLY inexpensive dishes!!

At the same yardsale I found these ADORABLE old records in PRISTINE condition. I couldn't pass these up. What I'll do with them? I'm not sure but they are in MINT condition!
On a brighter note... LILACS are out and in full bloom.. I have a HUGE bouquet on my table and you can SMELL IT THROUGH MY WHOLE HOUSE!! It's quite heavenly!!

What I have read...
These two books were good.. however... The Solitary Envoy seemed to move "to fast" in the story with not enough description. It seemed like things happened and I didn't GRASP what was happening... it was almost like hearing a punch line before the joke. All in all I will read the sequel to it.

Here is what I'm reading now... this is NOT like the other books I normally read. This is quite a heart wrenching story of a German Woman who Fell in Love with a Jewish man in the height of Hitler's reign. I have not completed it yet but it has sucked me in. I thought I wouldn't like it and would have ended up returning it, but I'm glad I am giving it a chance!

Is that last book a fiction story?

I'm so sorry that happened to you with the emails. Quite a tactless thing to do.

I remember some of those dishes from my childhood. I don't think my mom had them but maybe some relatives or friends. I'll bet if you put those books up on ebay you'd get quite a good amount for them especially if they are in mint condition.

Love old dishes. Have a bunch of them too. But I still buy more lol lol. I really want the old Pyrex refrigerator dishes. So I've been selling off some of the other dishes I have to support my habit ;)

I had a the same thing happen with a family member sending out an email like that. The heck with them right.

Hooray for gardening and books!

Boo for people with bad taste and no tact! Shameful!

I too love the old dishes. Pyrex baby! The blue is my favorite.

Sorry about the hurt feelings. You are better about it than me. I would have opened the pics and got more depressed. Similar thing here with in laws. We are asked to help move, but aren't invited to nephews baptism. No mad feelings, just hurt. Hugs to you.

I've had similar things happen to me in the past by some socalled "friends". I wouldn't think another thing about it and just chalk it up to bad taste! Say a little prayer for this person and ask the Lord to give you the strength to deal with this kind of silliness! That's just what I did =-)

That's some great little treasures you found.

That's awesome that you guys have had such pretty weather. I'm glad you've gotten to enjoy it.

I like those old dishes. I love stuff like that! Sounds like the perfect weekend.

What your friend did was downright hurtful and rude. To me, it'd be like a slap across the face. I've learned long ago that if someone makes me feel like crud when I'm around them, they no longer fit the definition of friend. Life is too short to waste time on people who play head games, and there are so many awesome ppl out there who do make good, honest friends!

It's tough when you feel left out. You're right, it was a bit rude for them to send you emails like that. What were they thinking?!

I love the picture of the lilac. That was beautiful. :)

Thanks for the recommendation.
I just requested it at the local library! I have 3 days of school left, and then I might have time to read myself. (-:
