Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself with others. Then he can be proud for what he himself has done. Galatians 6:4

For every great thing I find..I seem to lose something that I love... grrrr.. Understand what I mean?? Well, I found a GREAT find in my basement.. something I did NOT realize I had and have WANTED for the past year. I tell you it PAYS to clean the basement every once in awhile. This is what I found!!I know.. I know.. it doesn't look like much to some.. but it's a PRESSURE CANNER... and I was pricing these bad billies on line.. and they wanted HUNDREDS of Dineros for these!!! I squealed with delight when I saw it..and popped it open.. inside I found...

along with

I know.. I know.. rules and regulations have changed since then.. so I have to get something more modern... but I still have to figure out how to use this puppy!! I am tickled that I can now can soups and stews.. and left overs if need be! I can do water baths no problem.. but this just tickles me!!! So I'll have to fill you in on how my future adventures go with this....
Ok.. you're probably wondering what I lost.. right?? Sadly.. these photos you see here.. will be the last ones I use on my digi camera.. my little Nikon that I adored... was taken by my son and brought up to the neighbors home... all 4 boys decided to "film" their tinkertoy fights.. until the child who was filming the camera DROPPED it on concrete.. The boy is Autistic ( high functioning) and is all doll but he was filming and one of the boys was squirting him with water.. and he got upset..naturally... sighhhhhhhhhh of course all of this was done WITHOUT my permission.. but we can't go to the past can we?? and I can't look there either and wonder about the WHAT IF'S...sighhhhhhhh... so I don't know when I'll get another and be able to post pics.. I LOVE pics... sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

dig a little deeper in that basement girl! maybe there's a digi camera hiding there too!

three words for a noobie canner-ball blue book!

don't forget to take the gauge (prolly the whole lid) to your county home ecomomist for testing too!

you're gonna have a ball with that canner!

What a blessing and a bummer all in the same day. I'm not sure if I should be happy for ya or mourn the loss of your camera with you. :P I do sympathize with you though, I love taking pictures too and would be completely lost if something ever happened to my digi camera. I hope you'll be able to get another one soon. In the meantime, enjoy learning how to do canning. :)

Looks like a great find! Almost makes me wish I had a basement...sort of...ok, not really but I'd love to stumble upon a much desired kitchen appliance now and again!!!! Sorry about your camera. :-( :-( :-(

That was a blessing! I love homemade canned goods! My grammy is 68 years old and still cans!!

AWESOME! Our canner was one of the biggest purchases of our married life! They are spendy, but so worth it! How great is it that you found one in your basement?! Seriously so excited for you!! I, too, love to can - my kids won't eat green beans unless they are from a home canned bottle. Spoiled little runts, arent't they?!

PS: Sorry about your camera. . .

What a great attitude you have about the whole thing though. I want to be more like you when it comes to things like that. Not let what I can't fix get to me so much. You're truly an inspiration on a day when I needed it!

Oh NOOOOOO! I would die if my camera had such an accident....but now you can put the money you might have put towards a pressure canner in your new camera fund, right?

And if you didn't know you had that canner down there....whose was it? :)
